How to Fix Curtain Rod? Step By Step Guide For Beginners

The installation of curtain-carrying rods is a smooth process that requires some technical skills. We have enlisted the most common types of rods and essential supplies to fix these types of rods. • Classic Curtain Carriers

The classic rods are the most common type of curtain rods in Dubai. This rod is attached with two adjustable poles that are further attached to the wall with the aid of brackets. The curtain finials are present at these poles to prevent the curtain from sliding off.

• Double Curtain Rods

This type of curtain hardware is basically comprised of two parallel rods; one is a thick rod, another is a thin rod. The thick rod is for heavy-weight primary curtains, while the thin rod is for lightweight curtains such as sheer curtains.

• Return Curtain Hanging Rods

This sort of curtain hanging rod has a U-shaped pole to block the incoming light completely. Moreover, this enables the curtains to move efficiently. These rods require extra curtain material to cover both sides completely. 

Measure the dimensions of the window (length and width) by measuring tape to fix the brackets at an appropriate place precisely. It must be ensured that the bracket should be mounted almost 4 inches above the window and 3 inches away from the window. After determining these positions, mark them with pencils. However, you can also adjust these points according to an ideal position. 

After marking the initial positions for bracket placement on the wall, it must be ensured that the drilling holes should be at the same level on the wall. You can check their position by using a level device. The same process will be used for other window sides for marking the screw hole for bracket placement. For rods having a length of more than 4 feet, you should use support at the center to prevent the rod from bowing.

After finalizing the marks for drill guide holes, you can use a drill machine to drill the holes. While drilling into drywall, you can also use wall anchors to firmly fasten the brackets. For inserting wall anchors, you should increase the hole size for proper fixing. 

After drilling the holes, you can now use the screwdriver to fasten the brackets to the wall. Use a drill machine if convenient. However, a cordless drill would be the best option for an easy and smooth process. The same process will be used to fasten another bracket to the other side of the wall.

The next step is to position the curtain hanging rod. You need to fix curtain rings with curtain or drape. After this, attach these curtain rings to the rod. For a double curtain-styled rod, you need to place the primary curtain first in a thick rod and the secondary lightweight curtain in a thin rod. But for single-rod curtains, there is a very simple process for rod positioning.    

The next step after positioning the rod is to install the curtains. After threading the curtain into the rod, you can now lift the rod with the curtain to mount bracket level. If the mounted brackets have a groove, fix and attach the rod to these grooves; otherwise, you need to use a screwdriver to tighten the screw. 

The last step of rod fixing and installation is to check the brackets and functioning of the curtain. For this purpose, you will open and close the curtain multiple times and analyze the positioning of the rod. Moreover, you can also check the bracket’s tightness. It must be ensured that brackets are securely fastened.
