Height: First of all, you take the height of the window with the help of measuring tape by standing on the step ladder. Measuring the distance between the ceiling and the window top gives an accurate curtain appearance idea, also, keep a distance of about 2 inches between window dimensions and curtain rod markings.

Width: After taking heights in different parameters, you should now measure the distance between the end of the curtain rod and one side edge of the window. After installation of curtain rod brackets, you will measure the curtain rods’ diameter for grommet eyelets. Now, measure the diameter of metal eyelets from panels of both sheer and grommet curtains. Then deduct at least half an inch from this measurement for the required rod diameter so that the rod can easily pass through these metal eyelets.

While hanging curtains, another important aspect is to determine the size of the curtain for the window. As per standard size, the width of the curtain must be double the window width. So, we will take both the curtains of double size for hanging.

Now, you need to insert double curtain rods through the metal eyelets of both curtains. Firstly, you will mount sheer curtains on the first rod and then a grommet curtain on the second rod. After mounting both curtains on double rods, install this rod on the brackets by standing on the stepladder. Also, you can use a level to balance the rod on the window.

Note: This curtain arrangement will create a layering window styling, so the sheer curtain should face the window, and the grommet must face the interior of the place. When needed, you can draw the grommet folds towards an end and enjoy the filtered-lighting interior effect.
